SCHOOL AGE

Hours and Days of Operation

Good Shepherd Academy is open 12 months a year from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. An active Summer Camp Program will be provided during the summer months. The center observes holidays and certain school-closings for in-service training and vacation. A schedule of these days will be provided upon enrollment.

Enrollment Procedure/Class Placement

Enrollment is open to any child; 6 weeks to 12 years of age, provided Good Shepherd Academy can meet his/her needs and an opening exists. Enrollment is granted without regard to sex, race, color, religion, or political belief. Interested parents and children are invited to tour the center, meet the staff and review and complete all paperwork prior to enrollment. Upon receipt of the completed application and registration fee, placement will occur on a first-come, first-served basis. Prior to a child’s attendance, a conference with the parent and child is requested to acquaint each new family with the environment, staff and schedule. Children are grouped by both age and developmental level. Our goal is to promote the individual child’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth, and provide the parents with confidence in their child’s safety and emotional well-being while they are away. 

Parent Access/Security

A parent of a child enrolled in Good Shepherd Academy, shall be permitted free access, without prior notice, throughout the school whenever the child is in attendance. Our facility is accessible via personalized key codes. Parents are asked to notify the Director upon entering the building. Security cameras provide an additional level of safety throughout the building. In cases where a court or other legal entity has established visitation or custody rights, these orders will be strictly followed unless the custodial parent requests a more liberal variation of the court order in writing. Visitors are asked to schedule appointments, and are allowed in school areas at the discretion of the director or owner. A staff member shall accompany visitors at all times.

Daily Schedules (subject to revisions)

The children’s daily schedule is flexible enough to provide adaptability when necessary but structured enough to provide predictability for the children. We want to view their school as a safe and comforting place, where they know what to expect and when to expect it. Below are typical days for each of our groups:

8:00 am-8:15 am ~ Restroom Break

8:15 am-8:30 am ~ Morning Snack

8:35 am ~ Bus Departure

4:00 pm-4:15 pm ~ Return to GSA

4:15 pm-4:30 pm ~ Restroom Break

4:30 pm-4:45 pm ~ Afternoon Snack

4:45 pm-5:00 pm ~ Homework/ Silent Reading

5:00 pm-5:30 pm ~ Indoor/Outdoor Play (weather permitting)/Departure
